Amy Joest Sardeshmukh (BSIE 2008), Industrial Engineering Manager at Disney World, and Karen Rockwell (BSIE 2015), an Industrial Engineer at Disneyland, were touring Grissom Hall recently when they saw a plaque with their names on it. Sardeshmukh had received the award in 2007 and Rockwell in 2014, but neither had seen the plaque before.

"The Robert E. Savage scholarship helped me pursue a great career in industry - the theme park industry," said Sardeshmukh. "While at Purdue, the Savage family’s generosity allowed me to focus on learning key IE skills which I apply every day in my job."

"The Robert. E. Savage scholarship reminded me that hard work does get noticed,” added Rockwell. "It encouraged me to continue to work hard learning IE topics and apply what I was learning to my extracurricular activities. I often think of the generosity that helped me stay focused and land my dream job of working at the happiest place on earth!"

The Robert E. Savage Scholarship/Fellowship honors the memory and achievements of Robert. E. Savage, and is made possible through the love and respect of his son, James M. Savage (BSIE 1972) and his family. This annual award honors outstanding Purdue IE students who demonstrate high academic achievement as well as integrity, good character, academic excellence, and leadership potential, and who will apply their skills toward the future benefit of society.
