IE Senior Design Poster Competition

Students in the IE 431 Senior Design class wrapped up their last semester by presenting their company project posters in an inaugural poster exhibition on April 28, 2016. Representatives from 16 different companies attended and enjoyed interacting with the students and reviewing the nine posters on display. Many IE undergrads where able to see what types of projects they will be involved with in the future.

Faculty members judged the posters and a peer vote was taken by all those in attendance. First place was awarded to Team Eaton, who came up with a solution that could greatly reduce costs in the kitting and packaging area, and recommended ways to improve employee satisfaction in the Indianapolis Logistics Center, increasing productivity by 29% and saving $3.7 million annually. Team members were Chris Burgess, Caroline Baer, Li Pengfei, Tyler Smith, and Roselyn Luhur.

Second place was awarded to Team Fiat Chrysler Automotive, who improved a critical machining process reducing cycle time and downtime in their nine-speed transmission line. Team members are Yujia Guo, Dillon Pike, Kyle Plummer, Raymond Susilo, and Lauren Wheeler.

Third place was awarded to Team Intel, who developed a tracking method for perishable goods focusing on a dashboard reporting system for safe strawberry transportation-to-market. Team members were Ben Alderman, Anna Bukur, Uvika Chaturvedi, Madalyn Krynski, and Askar Zhapbassov.

In addition, a Peer Choice Award was won by Team Eaton Returnable Packaging Reduction, who proposed a way to reduce costs to save over $50,000 annually. Team members are Meredith Shannon, Philip Cheesman, Ruth Liddell, Shiru Li, and Helen Vu.

Congratulations to all the seniors who participated and provided a poster!
