Valencell, a leading innovator in wearable biometric sensor technology, announced that a Purdue IE alum has been named Chief Executive Officer.

Kent Novak (BSIE 1987, MSIE 1988) was most recently Senior Vice President & General Manager, DLP Products, at Texas Instruments (TI). There he transformed the DLP® Products organization to help drive significant growth in multiple new markets.

Valencell has also named Mark Floyd as Board of Directors Chairman. Floyd is a venture partner at TDF Ventures, one of Valencell's long-time investors, and has served as Chairman and CEO leading numerous public and private technology companies through acquisition and IPO.

Current Valencell CEO and Board Chair Michael Dering is retiring in December and will stay on in an advisory role through the transition.

"I couldn't be more excited to join the team at Valencell and help the company build on its success to date," said Kent Novak, Valencell Chief Executive Officer. "I was immediately impressed with the company's tremendous mix of outstanding technology, top notch talent on the team, great customers and partners, and huge market opportunities at hand. I look forward to bringing my skills and experience to that mix to take the company to the next level of growth and value."

"We're very happy to be able to add two world-class executives to the Valencell team. Mark brings a vast range of executive and board leadership experience to the Valencell board and Kent has a fantastic track record of growth and development in the industry. I'm particularly excited about Kent's experience growing TI's DLP Products business which is directly relevant for Valencell because it parallels how we 'breathe life' into silicon technology across multiple markets, form factors and use cases," said Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, President & Co-Founder of Valencell. "His leadership will also be extremely valuable in growing our relationship with strategic partners like Sonion and developing new strategic relationships."

Novak was named a Purdue Outstanding Industrial Engineer in 2014, and has been a strong supporter of Purdue IE for many years. He and his wife, Heather, donated generously to the School for the 2015 "reinvention" of Grissom Hall, sponsoring Classroom 134.
