Kent Novak (BSIE 1987, MSIE 1988) was most recently Senior Vice President & General Manager, DLP Products, at Texas Instruments (TI). There he transformed the DLP^® Products organization to help drive significant growth in multiple new markets.

Valencell has also named Mark Floyd as Board of Directors Chairman. Floyd is a venture partner at TDF Ventures, one of Valencell's long-time investors, and has served as Chairman and CEO leading numerous public and private technology companies through acquisition and IPO.

Current Valencell CEO and Board Chair Michael Dering is retiring in December and will stay on in an advisory role through the transition.

Novak was named a Purdue Outstanding Industrial Engineer in 2014, and has been a strong supporter of Purdue IE for many years. He and his wife, Heather, donated generously to the School for the 2015 "reinvention" of Grissom Hall, sponsoring Classroom 134.
