Fitting with Purdue University’s tripartite mission of learning, discovery, and engagement, the Purdue Center for Working Well (CWW) aims to be a cutting-edge center at the forefront of challenges facing modern workforces, and employees’ desire to “work well."
The core mission of the CWW is to develop a robust understanding of what “working well” means to employees and organizations—here, encompassing challenges with promoting personal well-being (e.g., reducing workforce burnout, promoting thriving), creating sustainable performance, adopting to grand challenges in modern organizations (e.g., societal issues; hybridization and automation of work), and cultivating positive and inclusive relationships at work and home broadly defined.

For too long, organizations hiring employees have implicitly or explicitly endorsed job performance as the ultimate goal. Much of our recruitment and selection strategies are geared toward finding employees who can perform the best. While employee performance is fundamental to organizational success, this focus is too narrow.
For the 2023-2024 academic year, there will be two courses that are affiliated with the Center for Working Well:
Long-term, courses will be offered across the various platforms that are offered at the Daniels School of Business (e.g., undergraduate, MBA/master’s, executive education, and PhD).
